Labocosmetica vs. Ceramic Pro
Ceramic Pro is perhaps the most marketed coating brand, with extensive franchise networks and consumer advertising.
Our assessment after testing both:
Application process: Ceramic Pro's multi-layer system (9H base, Top Coat, etc.) is designed around package pricing more than performance optimization. Labocosmetica's dual-layer approach is technically simpler but equally effective.
Hydrophobic performance: Labocosmetica HPC Pro matches or exceeds Ceramic Pro Top Coat in water behavior.
Durability: Both perform well in long-term testing. Ceramic Pro's "lifetime" marketing is technically accurate but misleading (requires maintenance packages).
Value: Labocosmetica typically costs less than Ceramic Pro packages while delivering equivalent results. We pass these savings to customers.
Labocosmetica vs. Gtechniq
Gtechniq is respected in the professional detailing community for quality products and transparent specifications.
Our comparison:
Product quality: Both brands produce excellent coatings. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra and Labocosmetica compete at the same tier.
Preparation products: Labocosmetica's integrated prep system is more comprehensive than Gtechniq's prep line.
Availability: Gtechniq has broader US distribution. Labocosmetica is less common, which some see as either exclusivity or inconvenience.
Cost: Similar pricing at the professional level.
We chose Labocosmetica partly because fewer shops in our area offer it, allowing us to provide something genuinely different.
Labocosmetica vs. IGL Coatings
IGL (formerly IGL Kenzo) produces coatings manufactured in Malaysia with good performance characteristics.
Our perspective:
Product quality: IGL produces solid coatings. Performance is comparable to other professional brands.
System approach: IGL's product line is less integrated than Labocosmetica's complete system.
Marketing approach: IGL positions heavily on warranty length. We're skeptical of warranty-focused marketing when performance should speak for itself.
